UNRWA chief calls on Arab states to continue supporting Palestinian refugees

Cairo (IINA) – Commissioner General for the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) Pierre Krähenbühl appealed to the Arab states to support the agency, in view of the financial crisis it is suffering from, in order to provide services to Palestine refugees.
In a speech at the 146th ordinary session of the Arab League Council at the ministerial level, Krähenbühl warned of the impact of deteriorating services provided to Palestinian refugees on the security and stability in the region. He stressed that he came to this meeting to convey a simple message of maintaining support for Palestinian refugees.
The UN official said that the Arabs have achieved many national achievements over the past decades, such as the nationalization of the Suez Canal, attainment of independence and formation of the Arab League as well as the industrial economy and social development, but the Palestinian refugees remained historical witnesses of injustice.
