Mogadishu (IINA) – UN Special Envoy to Somalia Ambassador Michael Keating welcomed the signing of the Law on Political Parties in the country by Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud.
Sheikh Mahmoud had signed the Political Parties Law at the presidential palace on Sunday, in the presence of Parliament Speaker Mohamed Sheikh Osman Jawari, members of the Cabinet and Parliament, as well as civil society groups.
Ambassador Keating said the signing of this law has "a special mission" in the federal state circles and among the Somali people, where it works on the cooperation and unity, praising the Somali president for his efforts to enact the bill into law.
It is worth mentioning that the Somali Federal Parliament had passed the political parties bill on June 6.
