Washington, (IINA) - The White House announced on Tuesday that 51 American companies have made “new measurable and significant” commitment of more than $650 million to aid refugees in the U.S and around the globe, according to media reports.
The companies “are standing with the administration to demonstrate that private-sector innovation and resources can have a durable impact on refugees residing in countries on the front lines of the global refugee crisis and in countries of resettlement.” In total, the 51 companies have committed to invest, donate, or raise more than $650 million to provide support for more than 6.3 million refugees across more than 20 countries.
They committed to provide educational opportunities for more than 80,000 refugees, including through digital content, mentoring, and classroom support.
The funds will also help provide employment opportunities for more than 220,000 refugees, including through mentoring, training, internships, and job placement. They will also provide for greater financial inclusion and economic integration for more than 4 million refugees. The companies also committed to forming partnerships with more than 70 refugee-serving non-governmental organizations.
