OIC chief, Uzbek FM discuss preparations for next session of Council of Foreign Ministers



Jeddah (IINA) – Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Iyad Ameen Madani met with Uzbekistan's Foreign Minister Abdulaziz Kamilov, at the latter's office in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Tashkent on Friday, during his visit to Uzbekistan. 
At the outset of the meeting, Madani expressed, on behalf of the OIC as well as on his own behalf, sincere condolences on the passing of First President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov.
The two sides discussed issues related to the preparation for the upcoming 43rd session of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers (CFM), scheduled to be held under the chairmanship of Uzbekistan in Tashkent in October. They underlined their mutual interest in the successful convening of the CFM's session and decided to work in close coordination with each other in this regard.
Later in the day, the secretary general paid a visit to the Islamic University of Tashkent. He was also received by Safaev Sodiq Salihovic, chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan, where Madani went to sign the condolence book opened in honor of late President Karimov.
