New England Muslim community to celebrate region’s first festival

Malden, Massachusetts (IINA) - Muslims across New England will organize on Sunday the region’s first Muslim festival in City Hall Plaza in Malden, Massachusetts.
Organizers noted that the festival will celebrate the diversity of the Muslim community and create a greater awareness of its cultural heritage, CBS New reported. Festival director Mohammad Shadid said the culture and image of New England Muslims has been “distorted by politicians and the terrorists who do not represent the faith.”
from his side, Malden Mayor Gary Christenson says he’s looking forward to the family event and sharing in rich cultural traditions. The event features music, dance performances, poetry, a comedy show and a martial arts display, as well as children’s activities and a traditional marketplace selling art, clothing and food.
