The Palestinian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities announces archaeological discovery of the tomb in Nablus

Nablus (Ina) - The Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities of the Palestinian announced on Sunday, for archaeological tomb discovery, at the site of Khirbet Aqaba 3.5 km to the west of the city of Nablus in the northern West Bank. The 
ministry said in a press release, that the experience of Aqaba, according to archaeological surveys conducted in previously contain traces back the Iron age and classical periods (Persian, Hellenistic, Romanian, Byzantine). 
the general director of museums and excavations in the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities Jihad Yassin, said that the grave had been discovered during the implementation of fossils rescue in place by the ministry staff, where he was detected a cave burial which it was closed by a stone circular diameter of about 130 centimeters, with the entrance square shape, pursued with two degrees Moktuatan in the rock leading to the total inside the cave, which contains four coffins stone used for the process of burial, where the length of the ark 210 cm and width 65 cm, has a coffins contained the decorations vegetarian, and contained two of them on the grave goods, were also found inside the cave on 5 compartments for burial cut into the rock. 
He added: evidence found inside the tomb indicate that the cave was used for burial in theperiods: Hellenistic, Romanian, Byzantine. 
He pointed out that the crews of the ministry is still working at the site, and the ministry will study the cemetery in order to identify the burial customs in historical periods mentioned, inaddition to rehabilitation and linking archaeological site
