NEW YORK (Ina) - decided to members of the UN Security Council, unanimously, the lifting of sanctions imposed on Liberia, through the adoption of Resolution No. 2288.
A statement issued by the Council on Wednesday (May 25, 2016), that Liberia has made progress in implementing the recommendations concerning the peaceful management weapons, and that thecease-fire being observed in Liberia, as well as the disarmament, demobilization and reintegration processes have been completed.
It is worth mentioning that the current sanctions regime imposed on Liberia in 2003, after the end of thecivil war in the country. this is the first time that the lifting of United Nations sanctions completely from Liberia.
