NEW YORK (Ina) - The Secretary General of the United Nations, Ban Ki - moon expressed deep concern about reports of growing political tensions in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, consistently associated uncertainty surrounding the electoral process in the country.
He called Ki - moon in a statement issued in his name to the respect for fundamental freedoms and therights enshrined in the constitution and urged all parties to exercise restraint and express their views peacefully, including in the context of the demonstrations scheduled for Thursday. He
also called on all Congolese political parties to put the interests of their country above their own through constructive engagement in a serious political dialogue aimed to resolve their differences peacefully.
