Low underage marriage in Morocco cases



RABAT (Ina) - said Mustafa Ramid, Minister of Justice of Morocco and freedoms, that the number ofchild marriage cases in the country, fell to 33,489 cases during the year 2014, compared to 39,031 cases in 2011. 
The Moroccan minister, told parliament on Tuesday (May 17, 2016) , that minors who are involved insuch phenomenon belonging to the families of poor and destitute. 
He stressed that the government "can not have that data on the phenomenon change directly, but through a series of measures and public policies merged, Kalrf of the economic and social level of thefamilies, and the level of awareness among the citizens . " . 
Moroccan law stipulates that the age of 18 is the age of eligibility for marriage, in line with international conventions, but at the same time opened a window of exceptions allow the marriage of a minor but with conditions and controls. 
the under article 20 of the underage marriage of the family Code with the permission of the judge, stating that it "can the judge in charge of the family to marry to authorize the marriage of boys and girls under age of eligibility, reasoned decision stating the interest and the reasons justifying it, after listening to the parents of the minor or his deputy and legitimate use of medical Bkhbayrh or make a social search. " 
although Morocco 's efforts to combat underage marriage phenomenon and ensure the application oflegal requirements , but the phenomenon is still rampant in the society.
