KSA, S. Africa to share intelligence

JEDDAH: Saudi Arabia and South Africa have agreed to share intelligence, particularly in combating terrorism, said Saudi Press Agency quoting a statement of the Foreign Ministry of South Africa.
The agreement was reached during the visit of South African President Jacob Zuma to the Kingdom. Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman conferred Saudi Arabia's highest honor on Zuma during the visit. The South African president said that he could clearly see regional security threats from the point of view of Saudi Arabia. He also looked into the possibility of sharing South Africa’s experience in negotiations and reconciliation to help in peace and security of the region.
“The two countries have agreed to work to ensure bilateral cooperation in intelligence in particular, in issues related to terrorism and their regional implications on internal and regional security and stability,” said a statement from the South African Foreign Ministry. The ministry termed the visit of Zuma as successful, giving a strong push to political and economic relations between the two countries.
The statement said: “The bilateral relations have gained more strength during this official visit which worked as an important encouraging factor to bolster political and economic relations of the two countries, particularly in the areas of trade and investment and expansion of bilateral trade to support work in the targeted sectors.”
