Biden arrives in Baghdad on unannounced visit



BAGHDAD (Ina) - US Vice President Joe Biden arrived in Baghdad Thursday (April 28, 2016) on an unannounced visit to Iraq , which suffers a severe political crisis at a time when the country is fighting afierce war against al Daash. 
A statement of the Office Biden that " the vice president arrived in Iraq for talks with the Iraqi leadership to promote national unity and to continue the momentum of the ongoing war against al Daash. " 
the statement added , " the vice president will also discuss steps the international community can be taken in order to support the stability of the Iraqi economy and greater international cooperation. " 
He met with Biden upon his arrival at the Prime Minister Haider al - Abadi and discussed with him thedevelopments in the political, security and economic conditions, according to a statement issued by theinformation office. 
the visit is the highest for the US official 's visit to Iraq since Biden 's visit to the country in 2011. 
with the US election in full swing to succeed Barack Obama after two consecutive campaign, it is likely that these recent visit him be to Iraq as vice president , too. 
he said one US official told reporters traveling with him on the plane that " the vice president was assigned by the administration for the Iraq issue since the beginning."
