AMMAN (Ina) - Jordanian House of Representatives approved on Wednesday (April 27, 2016) by amajority of 123 deputies, the opposition 18 and the absence of eight deputies, with one deputy from thevote, Article 40 of the draft amendments to the Constitution relating to the powers of the king and dual nationality.
Article 40 " The King shall exercise powers of a Royal Decree without the signature of the prime minister and the minister or the minister concerned in the following cases: choose the crown prince, theappointment of the Deputy King, appointed president of the Senate and members of the Council, theresolution of the Council and the acceptance of his resignation or exemption of any of its members from the membership, appointment of the chairman of the judicial Council and the acceptance of his resignation, the appointment of President of the constitutional Court and its members to accept theirresignations, the appointment of army commander and director of the General intelligence and thedirector of the gendarmerie and the termination of their services. "
The aim of the draft amendment to the Constitution, which is the thirteenth since the adoption of theJordanian Constitution in 1952 to promote the principle of separation of powers, and strengthen theindependence of the constitutional Court and the judiciary, and the application of the principle ofequality and equal opportunities for Jordanians to public office, in addition to strengthening theimpartiality and independence of the gendarmerie forces , and they are not affected or influence in politics.
according to the constitution, requires the adoption of the amendment to be approved by two - thirds of the members of the House of Representatives (100 members) in accordance with Article 126 , which states that: "applying assets set forth in this Constitution on draft laws on any draft amendment to the Constitution, and is required to approve the amendment, the permitted two - thirds majority of themembers of both the Senate and the House of Representatives, while paragraph 3 of Article 84 states that "if the vote relates to the Constitution or to a motion of confidence Ministers or in any minister, the votes shall be taken by calling the names of members and loud and every deputy to say I agree or do not agree or fails. it is
noteworthy that the amendments , which took place on the Jordanian constitution since 1954 included 71 items, and was most widely amendment , which was in 2011 , which included 39 items.
