More men come under suspicion in Al-Kandarah assault case

JEDDAH: Fresh developments have come to light in the assault case of the 13-year-old Al-Kandarah minor in Jeddah, after Al-Kandarah police referred two suspects — a citizen and a Yemeni expat — to prison as per the decision by the ethics department at the Bureau of Investigation and Public Prosecution.
Lawyer and legal adviser Tahani Al-Shareef demanded the subpoena and punishment of all those who participated, initiated and kept quiet about the crime at the so-called singles’ residential building.
Al-Sharif demanded putting the case before investigators and holding perpetrators, instigators and those who covered up the crime accountable with no exceptions.
She confirmed that the first defendant engaged in a disgraceful act by kidnapping and assaulting the minor, while the second defendant repeated the same disgraceful act, thus destroying the minor’s honor and future.
Around 70 single expats live in the building, most of whom had their legal status previously corrected. They took residence in the two-story building with a roof extension, and most work as salesmen, plumbers and construction workers.
