Tourism sector

I fully agree with the views expressed by Saad Al-Dosari in his article “Making KSA a tourist attraction” (March 21). The relevant authorities should make efforts to promote domestic tourism so that people don’t spend millions of riyals outside the country. Whenever it comes to expat remittances, people raise hue and cry but they don’t take any measure to stop the outflow of money when it comes to tourism.

Saudi Arabia is home to various heritage sites but due to a lack of services and solid tourism infrastructure, people don’t visit those places.

We all know about the Furasan Island and the annual fish festival. There is a need to promote the event on a large scale so as to attract foreign and domestic tourists. Saudi Arabia has huge tourism potential and it is heartening to note that the authorities are making efforts to change the situation.
