Saad Al-Dosari, in his article “Impacts of corporal punishment on children” (March 28), has highlighted an important issue. Parenting is not an easy job. Many people argue that our parents were also strict but we did not overreacted or responded in the way our kids do. It is correct that in the yesteryears, the situation was very different. It would be wrong to attribute this problem to the westernization of societies. It has nothing to do with western culture or values.
