CAIRO: A ‘selfie’ taken by a prominent French politician with Syrian President Bashar Assad has caused a stir on social media as the Frenchman was slammed for the move.
During a delegation visit to Syria, Julien Rochedy, who is a member of the far-right group National Front, and his colleagues visited several historical sites around the Syrian capital of Damascus before meeting with the president.
Rochedy snapped the picture with Assad and posted it to his Twitter and Instagram accounts, with the hashtag #SelfiewithBashar.
Several of his followers replied to his posts, accusing him of supporting a murderer of civilians.
