JEDDAH: Zekiesha commanded attention after a near-perfect 51 points on its way to the Team of the Week title during the 8th session in the FTBJ-ICBL 36th Conference bowling tournament at the Bowling City here.
Zekiesha just missed the league’s first perfect 52 points after being denied by Sadafco in the third game. Still, Zekiesha’s singularly remarkable performance enabled the team to share the record total thus far with Saudia Ice Cream, which posted the first 51 on the fifth week of the five-man team Friday afternoon league event.
JP Gilas 2 was a distant second on 46 points with Sadafco eight points further back on 38.
New league leader Ekis Reload, Pinslashers and defending champion Hidada Ltd. are tied on 37 points followed by Saudia Ice Cream 28, Sagmit Dental Clinic 23, D’ Barkads 20 and Sky Freight-OSN 18. Taking last three spots on the day were Patsamba 15, Crystal-Rock n Roll 10 ad United Doctors 4.
The individual race for Bowler of the Week went to Sadafco’s Danny Bautista in the men’s division on 713 and Matet Cavite of Pinslashers 680 in the ladies division.
Randy Mata and Nezar Al Hamwe were at the helm of Zekiesha’s charge on 676 and 665 with the ladies pair of Michelle Mata and Grace Funtilon carding 622 and 585. Ric Antonio and Steve Fragata shared the remaining three games on 25-245 and 171.
At JP Gilas 2, Jeanette Cerbito led the way on 640 followed by Rey Beltran 632, Naty Pusag 602, Paolo Allego 243-205 and Marlon Bernabe 192-205.
Malou Nidoy and Charrie Guzman complemented Bautista at Sadafco with solid rounds of 602-598 to go with the 579 by Pancho Cuevas, 193-204 by Joel Nidoy and 170 by Yasser Hokbi.
Emil Payongayong and Malu Gimie shot the leading scores of 647 and 633 at Ekis, which also netted 585 from Alma Bacero, 216-204 from Zaldy Bacero, 159-26 from George Mangaliman and 192-198 from Fadi Al Haddad.
