This is with reference to the article “Conserve water, create green jobs” (March 22) by Mohamed Abdel Raouf. I find the terms like “green jobs,” and “green economy” rather amusing. It seems that we live in an era where we are bombarded with new terminologies on a daily basis and the manner in which we abuse these terms have rendered them meaningless.
Hollow terms like “red line” or “green jobs” are not going to serve any purpose unless we take concrete and sincere measures to address the problems that the mankind is currently facing.
As far as the article in question is concerned, I do agree with the writer that proper planning for the conservation of water will help us in various ways. We should learn to share our natural resources. Fighting over water is the worst thing to do. All countries should devise a just and fair mechanism to share water without waging wars.
