JEDDAH: The Shoura Council has recommended improving the levels of teachers who were assigned lower levels than their qualifications and deserve higher positions.
A council member was quoted as saying in a local publication that the Human Resources Committee recommended the granting of the sixth level for teachers who have master’s degrees.
A source in the Ministry of Education said the ministry is still waiting for the answer of higher bodies to give sixth levels to master’s degree holders who are not sent on scholarships, and whose documents were finalized before the issuance of higher instructions, and to approve the appointment of scholarship students or those sent through the Jadara program.
The source said that a telegram was filed by the ministry asking to exclude 4,000 teachers who received their qualifications before the issuance of higher orders.
Many people reacted to a story that was published in Okaz about 4,000 teachers who sought legal address to look for the sixth level.
The teachers confirmed that they tried all efforts with the Ministry of Education which said that they weren’t proper employees even though it approved their teaching.
They said the ministry confirms that it cares about teachers and their development through holding expensive workshops, but when teachers try to develop themselves on their own they ignore them.
Spokesman for the Ministry of Civil Service Hamad Al-Muneif said scholarship students are appointed to work in schools, after their qualifications have been approved through the ministry, according to available jobs without preference, on condition that their studies have been done according to the approval of the training and scholarship committee of civil service employees, or training and scholarship committees that are approved by the regulatory lists.
Al-Muneif said teachers who have scientific qualifications that prepare them to occupy higher levels than they currently occupy, but whose studies weren’t done according scholarship regulations, can be appointed to jobs that suit their qualifications by applying through the Jadara system or the body that is authorized to occupy jobs through preference rules or competition.
