Grand Mufti lauds king for protecting nation

RIYADH: Grand Mufti Sheikh Abdulaziz Al-Asheikh has praised Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman for launching several military operations to protect the Kingdom and fellow countries from being destabilized by their enemies.
Al-Asheikh said operations Decisive Storm, Restoring Hope and North Thunder had shown the king was committed to protecting Muslims from harm.
He made the remarks on the weekly radio program, Yanfie Al-Fatwa (Springs of Religious Advice), broadcast from the Makkah-based Nedaa Al-Islam (Call of Islam) station. He said King Salman is a true statesman, which was demonstrated by his ability to set up alliances with leaders from countries across the world. He prayed that Allah would grant him victory on behalf of Islam and Muslims.
Al-Asheikh said that the 20-nation North Thunder military maneuvers recently held in Hafr Al-Batin indicated that the alliance was ready to counter all threats from enemies, which he said were seeking to humiliate, insult and undermine Islam.
He hoped that the maneuvers would serve as a wake-up call to all Muslims that there cannot be any glory without abiding by the teachings of the Holy Qur’an and Sunnah. Quoting several verses from the Qur’an, he urged Muslims to stand united and ensure they perform good deeds and strive for piety.
Al-Asheikh said he hoped the North Thunder alliance would be expanded further to accommodate other Muslim nations.
This unity would show that they could rely on themselves, which would ensure victory over aggressors.
“North Thunder, with Allah’s blessings, has really made a huge impact ... awakened nations and encouraged us to raise our heads high with pride,” he said.
