RIYADH: One hundred and twenty out of 22,046 Saudi geniuses (boys and girls) qualified for the final round leading to the presentation of 30 awards in scientific projects at the Sixth National Olympiad Creative and Science Awards “Innovation 2016.”
The annual event, being organized by the Ministry of Education and the Foundation of King Abdul Aziz and his Companions for Giftedness and Creativity (Mawhiba) will feature 60 innovative projects by a group of students and individuals.
This year’s event was hosted by Princess Nourah University last Thursday. Education Minister Dr. Ahmed Al-Issa presented awards to winners at an event held Saturday night.
This year’s event focused on upgrading the quality of projects through e-arbitration among 2,981 projects that covered scientific projects in programming, systems software, android smart devices, mathematics, chemistry, energy, biomedicine, health sciences, social and behavioral sciences, physics, astronomy, chemistry, environmental and mechanical engineering, biology, cellular molecular environments and plants.
A total of 30 awards were presented to winners, in addition to various special prizes offered by entities, institutions and companies for winning projects in their respective areas of work, including energy companies and other areas of research.
Winners will also represent Saudi Arabia in international Olympiad events taking place in various countries around the world.
