SCTNH, Masajedna to honor those taking good care of mosques along highways

RIYADH: Highlighting the importance of caring, preservation and better maintenance of mosques located along highways in the Kingdom, the Saudi Commission for Tourism and National Heritage (SCTNH) and the Masajedna Foundation will honor excellence in such upkeep.
“A joint meeting of senior officials from SCTNH and the Masajedna Foundation recently discussed activation of the memorandum of understanding between the two parties and stages of preparations for launching an award of excellence for caring for mosques located along highways,” an SCTNH official said on Thursday.
The meeting was chaired by Mohammed bin Abdul Rahman Al-Meshari, director general of the Masajedna Foundation, and attended by Omar bin Abdul Aziz Al-Mubarak, director general of licensing at SCTNH.
SCTNH and the Masajedna Foundation last November signed the agreement for the maintenance and upkeep of mosques located at highway gas stations.
After inking the deal, both the partners also decided to launch a media campaign in collaboration with the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs (MOMRA) and Abdul Lateef Al-Fozan Mosque Architecture Association to highlight the importance of caring and preservation of these mosques.
Prince Sultan bin Salman, SCTNH president, pays great attention to the project.
“Caring for mosques and enhancing their status in society is a noble mission exceeding the importance of ministries, organizations and associations,” he said.
Masajedna is the first charity foundation to undertake the efforts of caring of mosques at highway gas stations.
