This is with reference to the report “Pakistan: Bail denied to man who raised Indian flag” (Feb. 20). The report has left me speechless. I am not a constitutional expert but I do believe that the young Pakistani man did not commit any crime. Secondly, being a Virat Kohli fan is also not a crime. I am also a Pakistani and a huge fan of Amitabh Bachchan and Dilip Kumar. What is the difference between admiring a cricketer or a film actor or actress?
Our government has no problem allowing the screening of Indian movies in Pakistani theaters but it becomes anti-national to cheer Indian team against the Aussies in Adelaide. We should let go of this hypocritical mindset, which is affecting our growth as a nation. Unfortunately, both India and Pakistan are suffering from the disease of unrealistic and irrational nationalism.
