Kudos to Riyadh immigration

I returned to Riyadh recently, following a short trip to India. I had an exit/re-entry visa and my mother was holding a visit visa. I was dreading the usual tedious and long drawn process at the Riyadh immigration for first time arrivals in the Kingdom. However, I was pleasantly surprised by the sea change in the immigration process.

There was a friendly, English speaking supervisor who guided us with a smile to the queue for the first time arrivals. There were plenty of manned counters and the arriving passengers were processed quickly and efficiently by the immigration staff. There were supervisors to guide the passengers to the next available counter.

The new modern and open layout of the immigration counters with sparkling glass and steel fixtures and the white and blue color scheme helped create a warm and welcoming ambiance. I must say that the Riyadh immigration is truly world class — both in terms of infrastructure and skills of the immigration officers. Great job Riyadh immigration. I would like to see this good work replicated on the departure side too.
