Private night schools’ chapter closed

RIYADH: Education Minister Ahmad Al-Issa has ordered to gradually close down private night schools beginning from the current year. The closure of these schools will be complete by 1439H.
Al-Issa’s decision is based on reports of a body, which highlighted the poor discipline of students at these schools. It has also been decided to facilitate the admission of these students to government night schools and offer other educational facilities.
No new licenses will be issued for opening private night schools and the licenses of schools being run in rented buildings will be cancelled by the end of current academic year. This is in addition to gradual closure of other schools.
Class one of the secondary schools will stop functioning by the end of this academic year. Following it, second class will be closed down next year so that by the end of the academic year 1438-1439, such schools are finally closed.
The order has also emphasized the need for administration of public night schools to admit students who remain absent from classes to the Noor electronic system for education.
The administration and private and foreign education offices have been given the responsibility of monitoring the process and disqualifying those students whose absence percentage exceeds 25 percent, or who don’t show up for one month.
