Distressed woman, 20, stopped from jumping to death inside airport

JEDDAH: The city’s airport staff saved a 20-year-old woman who tried to throw herself from the upper floor to the mezzanine floor in the southern hall. Sources said the suicide attempt was due to family disputes. Administrators said a supervisor in the southern hall reported the suicide attempt around 4:30 a.m. on Thursday.
The administration said in a press statement that the woman was standing on the ledge of the upper floor in an attempt to commit suicide.
Officials dealt with the situation and tried to convince her to change her mind. She was brought down in the presence of her father and relevant airport authorities and was handed over to the airport's police.
Sources told Al-Madina that the woman left her home for the airport to take a plane to Riyadh. She met someone inside the airport who offered to facilitate her travel procedures. After her father discovered the matter he scolded her, which led to the suicide attempt.
