Promoting green culture

JEDDAH: Return to nature and restore the communication between humans and plants is Nora Al-Maneeh’s mission. To achieve this, the Saudi expert in gardening is promoting the green culture in homes, balconies and on rooftops.

“Every home and apartment should have a smart garden to enhance the culture of a green environment,” said Al-Maneeh, an inventor of “smart garden” project. “Create self-sufficiency in vegetables and aromatic herbs through a simple, low-cost idea that can be applied by everyone.”
A bachelor’s degree in gardening and is a student at the International Academy for Self-development, Al-Maneeh said she is very much interested in plants, which motivated her to introduce the smart garden idea with vegetables and aromatic herbs that can decorate and make the atmosphere harmonious.
She said these smart gardens can be placed in rooms, balconies, roof or along roads, and they can help in establishing greenery and in production of natural foods free of chemicals that can help in reducing costs.
In many countries, flowers and plant basins attached to houses attracted her so much that she wanted to see the same in the Kingdom.
“I worked hard to see my dream come true, to see flowers and plants in every home. I introduced a mobile cart, with the possibility of plants that can be protected from the harsh sun by covering and keeping them in homes as small gardens,” she said.
Al-Maneeh is keen to develop introductory information and classify plants and tell everyone the benefits and how they can cultivate their plants, where the flower and plant cart will not only have an indoor garden but can be placed outdoors to give an elegant look to the home.
She said people can use different types of irrigation systems and a variety of seeds and agricultural fertilizers to create.
