I read with interest the article “Don’t run away Obama, douse fires US created” (March 17) by Sabria S. Jawhar. I think we should stop criticizing the United States and President Barack Obama. The sudden shift in the US policy is a bit shocking but we should appreciate President Obama for being honest. Those in the Arab world who believe that the policy may change after Obama are sadly mistaken. It is a well thought out strategy and the message has been carefully (though in an undiplomatic manner) conveyed to the leaders of the Middle East.
Observers may recall a recent article by Hillary Clinton in which she explained the contours of US policy toward Asia.
Instead of asking the US to clean up the mess, it is high time the Arab world took the initiative to do the cleaning itself. We should be thankful to President Obama for opening our eyes.
