180 clinics allocated for Riyadh schools

RIYADH: The Ministry of Education (MoE) has allocated over 180 clinics for schools in Riyadh and directed all its departments across the Kingdom to recruit health advisers at schools with more than 100 students.
Work has already started on introducing training courses for the employees of these schools on the necessary health services, local media reported on Tuesday.
According to a circulation issued by the MoE to the education departments, the weekly class schedule for health workers at schools will be decreased to eight classes, so that they can assume the task of health advisers at the same time.
An official at the Riyadh education department said his department has allocated a health adviser at each school, noting that during the past period the department focused on intensifying medical training courses and emergency services for all health advisers who were assigned this task.
He said the department allocated integrated medical clinics at a number of schools so that health advisers can assume their work smoothly and properly.
“More than 120 medical clinics were allocated for boys’ schools and 60 for girls’ school, all equipped with necessary medical appliances and supplies,” he said.
The official said health advisers participated in intensive medical training courses during the past period and that the courses are still under way, with an average of two medical training courses a month.
Earlier, a number of people had demanded through social media that the MoE train teachers on emergency medical and first aid services in schools.
