3 policemen dead, 4 injured in gun-battle in Pakistan

At least four persons, including three policemen, were killed and four others injured on Tuesday in a gun-battle that ensued between police and a proclaimed offender in Pakistan’s northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
The incident occurred in Tank district bordering South Waziristan Agency.
The gun-battle erupted after the police raided the house of Bakht Jamal to arrest him at Umar village, police said.
Jamal is a wanted proclaimed offender wanted in cases of murder and other illegal operations.
However, police said the accused instead of surrendering started firing at them. The police retaliated and a gun-battle ensued between the two.
Three policemen were killed and four others injured in the incident, police said.
During an exchange of fire, a head constable, two constables were killed while the Station House Officer, two constables and a driver sustained bullets wounds.
The brother of proclaimed offender, Afzal was also killed during exchange of fire. However, Jamal escaped from the scene. Police have started a search operation for arrest of the killers.
