‘Poor planning among main reasons for projects failure’

AL-AHSA: Uncoordinated production resources, lack of risk planning, evaluation, non-study of similar projects and poor planning are among the reasons for failure of projects, an expert has said.
“Total quality management (TQM) is an integrated scientific and administrative approach that focuses mainly at internal and external customer satisfaction through strategies,” said Yasir Al-Qadhi, business development and rehabilitation consultant.
He was speaking during a public training session at the Al-Ahsa Chamber of Commerce and Industry about the main reasons that lead to the failure of some projects.
TQM is based on empowerment and participation of all employees, performance measurement, continuous improvement of operations, solving problems, relying on standardization and establishment of standardized solutions at work for quality and customer satisfaction, he said.
On the main elements for businesses management, Al-Qadhi said there should be a vision, commitment, actions and programs.
Regarding Six Sigma, he said that it is an approach applied by many organizations to control their performance, daily activities and processes in order to achieve an advanced degree of total quality for reducing wastage and eliminating defects.
Al-Qadhi said this approach measures the extent of deviation of a specified process from perfection, as it aims at creating a productive society without defects or wastage. He said these are proven modern management methods and analytical tools and techniques to form an improving system for problem-solving and business performance.
