This is with reference to the article “An unforgettable mistake” (Jan. 19) by Linda S. Heard. I agree with the writer that rapprochement with Tehran will prove to be a huge mistake of the US and its western allies.
It shows that the western powers are yet to fully understand the true nature of the Iranian regime. There is a great need to differentiate between the Iranian people and the regime. Iranian people are also victims of oppression. Huge economic pressure did not deter the Iranian regime from stoking unrest in its neighborhood. One wonders how will it act once its gains economic stability.
