Prince Ali Bin Al Hussein Courts Chinese Support in FIFA Presidential Bid

Prince Ali bin Al Hussein of Jordan, one of five contenders to lead soccer’s world governing body, said it was time to take a new direction and restore international faith in FIFA as he courted Chinese support for his February election bid. As WSJ’s Jeremy Page reports:
Prince Ali, who is FIFA vice president for Asia, also voiced support for the idea of China hosting the World Cup and for setting up an Asian regional headquarters for FIFA, potentially in the Chinese capital.
Prince Ali held talks Tuesday with Chinese soccer and sports officials in Beijing, the day after FIFA issued eight-year bans for alleged ethical violations to its president, Sepp Blatter, and his former heir-apparent Michel Platini.
Mr. Blatter and Mr. Platini denied any impropriety and said they would appeal.
