Baseless accusations

I agree with the views expressed by Abdulateef Al-Mulhim in his article “Zarif’s reckless accusations” (Jan. 18). I also read the opinion piece in NY Times by the Iranian foreign minister. After reading the article, my instant reaction was: “Look who’s talking!”
Iran cannot lecture any nation about extremism. We all remember the US hostage crisis in the late 1970s and other terrorist activities carried out by the Iranian regime across the world.
Above all, currently Iran is playing a dirty role in the region. It is mainly due to Iranian interference in Iraq and Syria; the two countries are on the brink of disintegration. Iran’s efforts to divide the region along sectarian lines are no secret.
The United States and its western allies may ignore Iranian crimes for their own interest, but those living in the region can never forgive Iran for fomenting unrest in the Middle East.
We have nothing against the Iranian people. It is the regime that is the culprit.
