Stop the War plans Westminster demo on eve of Syria vote

Anti-war protesters are to stage a last-minute demonstration in Westminster in the hope they can sway MPs on the eve of a vote on whether to send British warplanes to bomb Syria.
The Stop the War coalition has called the emergency protest in Parliament Square on Tuesday evening, cancelling plans for a public meeting it had been due to hold to discuss alternatives to military action.
By 9am on Tuesday, more than 2,000 people had indicated on Facebook they planned to attend before a debate and vote in the Commons on Wednesday, when MPs are expected to approve the government’s plans to send RAF planes on bombing sorties against Islamic State in Syria.
British personnel are already involved in the air war against the group in Iraq, at the request of that country’s government.
