Yemeni parasitic twin to undergo surgery in KSA

RIYADH: On a directive from Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman, a parasitic twin was flown to the Kingdom from Yemen on Sunday.
The infant, Ahmed bin Nabil Abdel Haq Riyadh, was born in the city of Taiz.
The arrangements for the transport of the infant and his parents, and the subsequent medical treatment, have been made by the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center, whose general supervisor is Dr. Abdullah Al-Rabeeah, a former health minister and reputed surgeon.
The King Abdul Aziz Medical City, the Ministry of National Guard, where the infant is currently warded, will coordinate with the King Salman Center for Relief and Humanitarian Action, for the medical treatment needed for the parasitic twin.
The head of the medical team at the King Fahd Medical City pointed out that the condition of the twin is stable. However, the patient Ahmed has no viable link to his lower chest and upper abdomen.
Al-Rabeeah said the twin has to go through a series of clinical tests to decide what type of medical treatment is needed for the infant.
He said that under the leadership of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman, the Kingdom is rendering the maximum assistance to the people and the government of Yemen.
Last March, surgeons, led by Al-Rabeeah, successfully separated a set of Yemeni conjoined twins at the King Abdul Aziz Medical City in Riyadh.
Prominent Saudi consultants in anesthesiology, pediatric, orthopedic, plastic and pediatric urinary tract surgeries, as well as nursing and technical staff were part of the team.
