These days Internet is flooded with pictures of some besieged Syrian town(s) showing emaciated people who have nothing to eat and are dying of hunger. Pro-Assad forces have laid siege to those areas and have not been allowing any aid to reach those poor and helpless people. According to some reports, those people have been forced to eat cats, dogs, insects, grass and leaves.
The world’s apathy toward these people is appalling. How could the so-called world leaders let these people die? Despite these atrocities, the international community is considering Bashar Assad as a potential partner in the global war on terror. The Syrian despot is no better than Daesh or Al-Qaeda, as he is guilty of inflicting continuous pain on his people. He is a terrorist of a different kind. Instead of killing people at once, he is torturing them to death.
Supporters of Assad should be ashamed of themselves and they should realize that they are as guilty as Assad is. What is the crime of Syrians? They just wanted their legitimate rights and wanted to get out of the bloody clutches of a dictatorial regime. The revolution in Syria had nothing to do with any sect or religion. Iran gave it a sectarian color just to exploit the situation and gain a foothold in Syria so as to use it as a base to launch attacks on or conspire against neighboring Arab countries. The Saudi Arabia-led coalition of Muslim countries should take a decisive action against the Syrian brute and the international community should back this alliance and its actions in Syria.
